Design Board – Mixing it Up
Design Board created by: Lauren Oviatt | Web: www.laurenoviatt.com | Location: Utah
So many of our customers are creating one-of-a kind butler’s pantries and bar areas in their home as a way to create continuity and flow from the kitchen into other spaces. We suggest using similar elements to the kitchen (door style or color, for example), but that’s where it ends! We love seeing alternative hardware, flashy blacksplash tile and of course, Kith’s custom cabinet details like open shelving, wine/bottle storage, and all the other incredible details that get noticed in a smaller space where everything stands out. Dramatic high-contrast cabinet colors paired with a playful backsplash and the perfect peek of brass in hardware, plumbing and tile – this palette is trend-forward and we think its dynamite! Wouldn’t you love a scheme like this in your home?

About the Designer, Lauren Oviatt
Though currently based in the Mountain West, Lauren credits her formative years spent in the South for solidifying her love of interior design and gracious living. “Southerners take pride in the way they live and know well the connection that exists between a thoughtfully-designed space and life’s richest moments. Those Southern roots and that mentality of graciousness creeps into all of my projects in some way,” she says.
Over the course of ten years, Lauren has been fortunate to work on full-scale residential, commercial, executive, and vacation home projects. She is constantly looking for ways to infuse style and individual charm into her projects, keeping an eye for tasteful, neo-traditional American design.
Previous to being full-time in the design industry, she worked in corporate PR and high-end wedding planning. She maintains that her previous experience and education, though varied, still plays into her current interactions and enhances her design projects today.
